Dhal is an essential meal made in every Indian household. Everyone’s dhal is personal and carries shared memories of family, community, and culture that is satiating down to the soul. There are few meals that are simple to make, nutritious, and versatile with alternative or mixed dhals. Here is the drinkable dhal that I frequently make as a breakfast meal or to serve with a carb of choice (dhal puri, roti, paratha, rice, millet all work, this is not a pasta sauce). Omit ingredeniets for dietary preference.

🤌 FAQs

Can I add more spices?

Yes! These are basic spices to make a homestyle dhal, but garam masala, coriander powder, ajwain all work.
